"I turned to see Peter licking the wounds of a newborn that had survived the fight.

I could understand his fascination with her. She looked like a Christian painting of Mary Magdalene. She was tall and slender when she was on her feet. Long pale red hair ran down to the small of her back and fell over her shoulders like silk curtains on either side of her face...

I understood his fascination.

I didn’t condone it.
